Located in picturesque Cascade Falls Park in Jackson, Michigan, you’ll find the charming Cascades Manor. If you have been lucky enough to attend a meeting, wedding, or other event hosted there you have likely experienced something very unique. General Manager Kirk Root shares how the history of Cascades Manor, along with his dedicated team, and community involvement, all contribute to their award-winning success.
William Sparks originally built a clubhouse for the Cascades Golf Course, and gifted it to Jackson, along with the illuminated Cascades Falls, and 465 acres of land. In the 90s the clubhouse was abandoned. The Cascades Park Foundation formed to renovate and give purpose to the 1932 sprawling English Tudor.
Today, the building functions as an award-winning event, venue, and convention center that hosts private, municipal, and corporate events. It has become home to the local Lions, Rotary, and Kiwanis clubs, as well as other community organizations. A portion of the proceeds are donated to the Jackson County Parks for preservations, upkeep, and new development.
“We are rare in the fact that we are both the venue and the caterer. We pride ourselves in having wide menu selections to appeal to all groups,” said General Manager Kirk Root. “We love the challenge of preparing high-quality food that is memorable. Quality and presentation is never skimped. We accredit our awards, and thousands of satisfied guests, to our attention to quality and detail.”
Root additionally defines success by receiving reviews, thank you letters, and repeat business. He also puts equal emphasis on the internal outcomes of his events. He adds, “A successful event is visible by smiling guests and our staff enjoying their jobs simultaneously.”
