President Aaron Hubbard guides the United Foodservice Solutions team while serving as a visionary for the industry. Learn how Aaron became a third generation business leader and the lessons he learned along the way.
What is your role at United Foodservice Solutions?
“I oversee the Sales and Service Departments along with daily operations of the business. I try to assist in any and all areas.”
Before working at United Foodservice Solutions, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
“I was in law enforcement. Always unusual and interesting.”
How did you first learn about United Foodservice Solutions?
“My Grandfather started the business long before I was born and my Dad has worked with United Foodservice Solutions since 1981. This company has been a part of my life since I was born.”
How has United Foodservice Solutions changed since you first started?
“When I first started we had 4 employees, used sub-agents for our service work and had a shared test kitchen in the Metro-Detroit area. We have since moved to a bigger office with a test kitchen on site, we have more than doubled our staff size and we are always looking for new employees to join the team and we do ALL of our service in house under the United Foodservice Solutions banner.”
How has your career developed over the years?
“My current role has helped me become a more well rounded person and showed me avenues of managing team members and customers differently than I previously had. It has also provided me with a place to grow and transition up the roles and ranks of the business.”
What career lessons have you learned?
“The lessons I have learned here are way too many to count. I learn more daily and hope that continues! If I stop learning or growing in this line of work I need to move on to something else and I don’t see that happening.”
What do you like most about your job?
“My family and career go hand in hand. UFS is an extension of my family so I always manage both together. That’s the way I like it! We have a great group that works its tails off! I also take pride in being a third generation business owner. I enjoy steering the United Foodservice Solutions ship in a direction toward continued success!”
How do you balance your career and family?
“Being a small business owner you’re never really ‘not at work’. Even though our office has hours of operation I work until the work is completed no matter the time of day. My family is also a huge part of my day! They are my ‘happy place’ and I always try to fit in some sort of physical activity daily to help with stress relief and overall health and wellness.”
“Your day, attitude and work is what you make of it! Stay positive and try to make someone else’s day brighter and better!”
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
“Spending time with family, bowhunting, trail running, CrossFit and being outdoors just to name a few.”
What advice do you have for prospective candidates?
“When you join UFS’ family you are joining a group of people that make a difference in our industry and in our territory. We work hard and we also enjoy what we do daily! I have been told by past and current employees that United Foodservice Solutions is ‘different from any other place’ they have ever worked. We put our people first.”
What are your hopes for your industry?
“I hope that our industry becomes more employee centered moving forward. Taking care of the customer has and will always be a top priority but we need to take care of our staff as well through increased wages, better benefits and a positive work environment. If you take care of people they will take care of you!”
